GCSB public protests

The political deal to push through the GCSB Bill has been done. The Bill retains all the elements that will lawfully make New Zealand a surveillance state. A proud country that once stood up to be nuclear-free in the face of US retaliation, is now happy for all New Zealanders’ Internet data to be scooped up by the NSA and other Five Eyes ‘partners’.

A democratic response is to make your voice heard via the planned public meeting in Auckland today and street protests on Saturday, 27th July. UNICEF was spot on when it said there are limits to slacktivism.
